Summary

Taking a brass tacks approach to communication, How to Have Confidence and Power in Dealing With People explains how to interact with others as they really are, not as you would like them to be。 The goal is to get what you want from them successfully - be it cooperation, goodwill, love or security。 Les Giblin, a recognized expert in the field of human relations, has devised a method for dealing with people that can be used when relating with anyone - parents, teachers, bosses, employees, friends, acquaintances, even strangers。 Giblin shows step by step how to get what you want at any time and in ways that leave you feeling good about yourself。 Moreover, the people who have given you want you want wind up feeling good about themselves, too。 The result? Nobody gets shortchanged。 It's a win-win situation。 Each chapter includes a handy summary, so there's absolutely no chance of missing the book's key points。 You can also use these recaps to refresh your memory after you've finished the book。 Instead of feeling miserable about your interpersonal skills, read this best-selling guide and learn to succeed with people in every area of your life。

Outdated but still relevantThis is a great book。 It was written a while ago and needs to be updated to meet today's audience。 However, the points and lessons are as important today as ever。 I highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for self improvement or is looking for a good book。 Outdated but still relevantThis is a great book。 It was written a while ago and needs to be updated to meet today's audience。 However, the points and lessons are as important today as ever。 I highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for self improvement or is looking for a good book。 。。。more

Decent book。 As someone who already has decent communication skills, a lot of the things in the book seemed self explanatory。 But, it is well written and engaging enough to keep learning and improve on your communication skills regardless。

Got bored with this book。 There are so many other books with good concepts and this one is too similar but vague。 Pulling out the good information and giving it away。

Really enjoyed this book and took a lot of good notes。 Simple concepts you can start applying immediately。 It's been interesting - I'm much more aware during conversations I've had with some very successful coworkers of some of these techniques (which I feel come very naturally or are well practiced to them)。 Lots of self reflection and attitude adjustments to be made on my end as well。 Really enjoyed this book and took a lot of good notes。 Simple concepts you can start applying immediately。 It's been interesting - I'm much more aware during conversations I've had with some very successful coworkers of some of these techniques (which I feel come very naturally or are well practiced to them)。 Lots of self reflection and attitude adjustments to be made on my end as well。 。。。more

Very descent book, has lots of practical pieces of advice, despite the fact that the book was written years ago。 Don’t really understand why it’s not as popular as “how to win friends。。。”, for me they are of the same level

This is one of the few nonfiction books I've read this year and I have learned so much from it。 The lessons and words of advice in this book are timeless and it just propelled me to push myself to reevaluate my life and how I respond to people around me。 I've learned valuable things from this book that I have been applying to my life after reading it and somehow, I have seen improvements。 It's really a wonder how understanding a person's ego can make you think about how to approach and speak to This is one of the few nonfiction books I've read this year and I have learned so much from it。 The lessons and words of advice in this book are timeless and it just propelled me to push myself to reevaluate my life and how I respond to people around me。 I've learned valuable things from this book that I have been applying to my life after reading it and somehow, I have seen improvements。 It's really a wonder how understanding a person's ego can make you think about how to approach and speak to them。 Wonderful read indeed! 。。。more

A very fun and introspective read。 It tells you straight up and doesn't hold punches。 This hurt my ego sometimes but it was for the better。 I will be revisiting this book as there are so many tips and words of advice that you can't unpack it all in one read。 I had some problems with a few statements that would take whole essays to talk about。 But for every bad take there are 50 great and impactful words of wisdom。 Really enjoyed it, I only hope I can apply this knowledge to me success。 A very fun and introspective read。 It tells you straight up and doesn't hold punches。 This hurt my ego sometimes but it was for the better。 I will be revisiting this book as there are so many tips and words of advice that you can't unpack it all in one read。 I had some problems with a few statements that would take whole essays to talk about。 But for every bad take there are 50 great and impactful words of wisdom。 Really enjoyed it, I only hope I can apply this knowledge to me success。 。。。more

причина по которой так много людей испытывают трудности в простом каждодневном общении。 Она состоит в том, что они «боятся сказать что-то слишком очевидное и тривиальное, либо неискреннее, либо не достойное внимания собеседника, либо не подходящее к случаю»。

The words and observations of the author is definitely true。A must read for introverts or anyone having difficulty on holding a conversation。A phenomenal practical book with great examples from people who are great conversationalists。

Just finished it!!!It's really good book。 Specially the fact that it talks in a very practical way。 Many books I have gone through before talk a lot of stuff that is not related to topic or purpose for what I'm reading that book。 They talk about lot of research work, how they did it etc。 But do I really need to know that?。。。。after 4 or 5 pages that content of purpose comes up in just one page! This is basically a true text book of communication, with full of advice, "do"s and "don't"s。 The last chapter of the book even includes a form to help you track the progress of your own。 What I like about this book is that, it doesn't have the 'storytelling' style that's trending recently in non-fictions。 Instead, it's straight to the point, just stating reasons why you should and shouldn't say something, with minimal examples to back up。 However, it comes with a downside, which makes the reade This is basically a true text book of communication, with full of advice, "do"s and "don't"s。 The last chapter of the book even includes a form to help you track the progress of your own。 What I like about this book is that, it doesn't have the 'storytelling' style that's trending recently in non-fictions。 Instead, it's straight to the point, just stating reasons why you should and shouldn't say something, with minimal examples to back up。 However, it comes with a downside, which makes the readers feel less connected and inspired in comparison with "Never Eat Alone" by Keith Ferrazzi, which feels much more personal。 I'd like to think of this book as for Communication 101 , and Never Eat Alone as a Comm 102。 After all, we still need to master the basics, before moving on to become comfortable to play around and add a personal touch to it。 Therefore, this is a good book for those looking to refine their fundamental conversational skills。 4*/5* 。。。more

This book started off promisingly but unfortunately quickly turned into a bible thumping, god praising waste of time。 I realise for many people this is not a problem but for those who are non-Christian or atheists this is a huge problem。 I personally couldn’t even finish the book。

This is one of those books that everyone should read and re-read。 Absolutely helpful for our everyday communication。

I see this as a followup to "How to Win Friends and Influence People" as it continues the mindset needed to learn how to better influence others, not in a manipulating manner, but allowing you to learn the needed skillset required to interact with people。 This should be a required reading though if you are in a position of leadership over others。 I see this as a followup to "How to Win Friends and Influence People" as it continues the mindset needed to learn how to better influence others, not in a manipulating manner, but allowing you to learn the needed skillset required to interact with people。 This should be a required reading though if you are in a position of leadership over others。 。。。more

All this time I thought “The Three A” means “Anal at anytime” but after this book, turns out it actually stands for “Acceptance Approval Appreciation”。
